This course is designed for hydrology students who wish to deepen their understanding of advanced hydrological techniques through a detailed case study of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). Utilizing satellite imagery, digital elevation models, and various analytical tools like ArcGIS and Google Earth Engine, students will explore the methodologies for calculating water volume in large reservoirs, understanding seasonal variations, and assessing the potential of such megastructures in water resource management. By the end of this course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of the complexities involved in managing large-scale water projects and the innovative techniques used in their analysis.
